Good News & Bad News

Hey, I apologize for the long delay in posting, but some @&*#, %&@#, %#$-ing *^$% infected my computer with a worm. I still have no idea how, as I'm super careful while surfing the internet (I use the computer equivalent of 8 condoms), but I got a worm and it erased my hard drive. Poof! All gone. Now, a computer whiz managed to save some data (6 GB of porn), but I lost lots of other stuff (8 months of stand-up ideas) so I'm still pretty peeved. Anyways, even though I'm back I'll be away in Boston for most of this week, so no real updates until next week. Suckers!

When something bad happens, something good usually comes along to balance it out (not usually, but sometimes) and that was the case with me last week. I got back late from work last Tuesday (technically early Wed.) when I found that I had received a Myspace message from one Dwayne Perkins, a professional, does-this-for-a-living comedian. He needed someone to do a 5-minute set to open his Wed. night show at the University of DE, and he really liked my Myspace clip (hey, who doesn't!) so he invited me to come down, and get this, for money. I was pretty nervous because a) He was paying me, b) I hadn't been onstage for over 6 months and c) This would be my first sober, college-educated audience. Somehow, I summoned up some massive balls and took the gig.

I performed the same exact set as heard in that clip, and it went over pretty well. I could tell he was pleased, but I think we both felt that I need some more stage time under my belt before I'm landing steady $$$ gigs. I have no regrets, it was a great experience and I'm now technically a working comic, which is sweet. Maybe I'll post an audio clip of the performance next week. Moral of the story-Big balls and a Myspace page are your key to success.

If you have a moment, stop by the Dead Dog View page and check out the short movie I just posted. It is a video production project I did back in sophomore year of college, and really is DDV in the fetal stages. Some production elements are rough, but it's still good for some laughs. See you after Boston.
